BA - GRADUATE COLLECTION
My BA [ bachelor ] Graduate collection was inspired by the traffic. The collection was meant for target group 15 - 20 year old sporty feminine girl.
The traffics fast pace was expressed with clothes in a sporty style. Wide vests comfortable to move with, but still kept with a feminine touch.
The ornaments in the clothes are inspired by traffic signs.The traffic signs have gone through an abstraction process. I have kept the basic clean colours in most traffic signs red,white and blue through the whole collection. In many ways the white colour also expresses light and speed. The straight narrowed lines, expresses direction.
I decided to design wadded fabrics out from the ornamental drawings and also use the abstracted pattern in the seams. Difficult to see in the pictures but it is shown in the work sketches and fashion drawings under. The ornaments are sewn with thicker threads, than normally in other wadded fabrics, to be seen.
The work with this collection was a process, with sketches and ideas, experiments with patterns, fabrics, threads, materials and constructions. The pictures under only presents the final work, after have taken consideration of my commercial intention.
I exhibited my bachelor candidate work "Traffic" in an exhibition for young talents at NORSK FORM - a national institution to increase understanding of the fields of design and architecture.
Later I also used this collection for a fashion contest, announced by the fashion magazine [mag] and the television youth program SONE 2 on Norwegian TV2 , for the same target group as in my BA. I transformed the work further to a grey wadded combination, the jacket inspired by a motorcycle overall and trousers to match. I reached to the final as one of the four finalists with this contribution.
