HAUTE COUTURE

From New Romantic and Punk , through Naive Postmodernism and towards Futuristic Architectural dressing.I have been through several design decades as a Fashion Designer from the late 80s power dressing inspired from the New Romantic and punk designer Vivienne Westwood , through the 90s Oslo Club Scene and till today where I continue developing my design style with knowledge of fashion,image and trends.

Some of my works from the beginning of 2000 have a post- modernistic approach such as Las Vegas, Dog Suey and Child play. Where the inspiration are a translation of everyday objects into clothes. Las Vegas are inspired of card games, Child play of colored spaghetti and children drawings and Dog Suey are inspired from a dog suit with ears.The works are also very naivistic, a trend that still dominates modern clothing and the street trends today.

I have attended several group shows with other designers. The first fashion show I attended was in 1991, part of a modeling course at the Norwegian Designer Tine Solheim in Grand Hotel Oslo.

Today I work with several projects. Among them is combining my visual art work with ready to wear and street design to a new commercial clothing line.I also work with more exclusive clothing in Haute Couture build on this crafts and inspired from historical dressing, architecture draping and fabric manipulation. In this field I get the use of my craftsmanship in Dress and Suit tailoring.

Architectural draping and fabric manipulation interest me a lot . I enjoy using different Haute Couture techniques to bring texture to the fabrics. See picture of the Black Stripes Dress and detail from a dress made of ribbon draped metal fabrics. This is time consuming techniques but are also quality made dresses. This is a philosophy for a civilized world and a more Eco friendly approach to clothing. Design and clothes that will last through decades and can inspire future generations.
