ABOUT

1989

I believe in creating clothes that covers sosial, cultural, psychological and practical needs which I believe is the key for great design that will dominate the trends.

I am a fashion and costume designer from Norwegian and Spanish heritage. Was born among skyscrapers in Benidorm Spain, and moved to the small village Kongsvinger in Norway in the age of nine. My interest for clothing started early, in a combination with an interest for music and stage performance costumes and images. From this inspiration I started to make clothes and costumes to myself in the age of fifteen. One of my first «rip-off» was the stage costume of Tommy Lee in Mötley Crue with Black and White stripes which I was wearing a lot with pride. The jacket was one of my favorite garments during 9th grade. I still get a lot of my inspiration from different music genres and this expression.

In my Master from collage «The Cartoon Metal Experience» I studied the field of Image , Identity and the use of archetypes in the music industry. I made an experiment to create a band from a designers hand where I gave the band members a new invented music genre CARTOON METAL, costumes, a band name TOXIC TOYS and individual personalities to play with for the experience and innovation.

I have been hired to design and make costumes for Television, Theater and the music industry like music videos and stage performances. For Oslo Synth Festival I was hired to create a happening related to clothing and art. I involved 6 models and a musician to create the show. The Feedback from organizers of the festival and the audience was that the performance and mini concert was one of the festival's highlights.

Another assignment have been the TV event HIT AWARD, at one of Oslo's biggest concert stages Oslo Spektrum. About two million saw Tv broadcast and the concert arena was packet. I made the dress for the Opening ceremony show for world music artist Mari Boine. The dress was a five meter high creation which was lifted with an elevator into the air. This work also included preparation of fabrics to transform black linen into a metal fabric expression.

I have also been invited several times for exhibitions such as the jubilee Exhibition for Norwegian Craftsmen ,participated design contests with great results like the traditional design contest of Oslo Fashion Week and have also attended several group shows with other designers with my own designs. Some of this works have a post modernistic approach, such as “Las Vegas“ “Dog Suey” and “Child play”. Where the inspiration are a translation of everyday objects into clothes.“ Las Vegas “ are inspired of card games, “ Child play” of colored spaghetti and children drawings and “ Dog Suey” are inspired from a dog suit with ears. The works are naivistic, a trend that still dominates modern clothing and the street trends today.

Today I work with several projects among them is combining my visual art work with ready to wear and street fashion to a new clothing line. I also work with more exclusive clothing. Haute Couture, build on this crafts and inspired from historical dressing, architecture draping and fabric manipulation. In this field I can use my craftsmanship in Dress and Suit tailoring.
